Measuring Tips

It is best to take your measurements over undergarments.

Neck: Measure around the thickest part of your neck, or base of neck.

Chest: With arms relaxed at sides, measure directly under your arms around the fullest part of your chest and shoulder blades, keeping tape parallel to floor. Blazer sizes correspond to your chest size (i.e., if you have a 38" chest, you would wear a size 38 blazer).

Sleeve Length: With arm bent at 90 degrees, place hand on hip. Measure from the center back, across shoulder to elbow to just below the wrist bone.

Waist: Measure around your natural waist at the height you normally wear your pants.

Hip: Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of your hips. Keep the tape parallel to the floor for the best results.

Inseam: Measure a similar pant that fits you well. Measure from the top inner thigh to the bottom of the hem. The number of inches is your inseam length.

Height: Without shoes, stand with your feet slightly apart and your back to a wall. The measurement from the floor to the top of your head is your height.

Short: Under 5'8" Average: 5'8"-5'11 1/2"
Tall: 6'- 6'4"

One Size Doesn't Fit All

According to the latest facts from the Big & Tall Men's Apparel Needs Group, 16 million men define themselves as "big and tall." One out of every 13 American men finds that regular-sized clothing is too small. Think you "fit" into the Big & Tall category? Then take a look at our handy guide below to determine your size.

Regular, Big, Tall … Which is Which?

Regular: Refers to a well-proportioned body ranging from 5'8" - 6'0" tall. The hips and chest have equal width.

Big: Demonstrates a body from 5'8" - 6'0" tall with a midsection that's wider than the chest. Order a big size if you are 6'2" or shorter, and your waist measures the same or larger than your chest. In other words, big sizes are designed for men with a full waist and average height.

Tall: Describes a body 6'1" - 6'3" tall, with a longer-than-average torso and sleeve length. The hips and chest have equal width. A tall-sized shirt will be two inches longer in length than a regular-sized style, and the sleeves will be one-and-a-half inches longer. Order tall sizes if you are 6'2" or taller and your waist measures less than your chest. Many big men enjoy a longer shirttail, so they buy from the tall category in the next largest size. Because a tall size has a slimmer construction, a big man who wants the longer tail should move up one size.
