July 19, 2004 MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., July 19, 2004 Kohl's Department Stores and actress/author Jamie Lee Curtis are joining forces in an effort to improve health and educational opportunities for children. In July and throughout the back-to-school season, Kohl's stores across the country will sell books written by Curtis, a New York Times best-selling children's book author, for a fraction of the typical retail price. Each hard-cover book will be sold for $5 at Kohl's stores and at www.kohls.com, with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting Kohl's 68 children's hospital partners. Also available for $5 each are colorful, plush characters such as alligators, octopuses, chameleons and geckos. "We're truly excited to feature these wonderful books written by Jamie Lee Curtis, who shares our mission of supporting children's hospitals, which provide vital services to children and families nationwide," said Julie Gardner, senior vice president of marketing for Kohl's. "Jamie Lee's books build self-esteem and confidence in their young readers. We are proud to support such an important initiative and promote literacy through the Kohl's Cares for Kids® program." Curtis' best-selling books, including "Today I Feel Silly," "I'm Gonna Like Me," "Where Do Balloons Go" and "When I Was Little," as well as the plush toys, will be available at Kohl's stores for a limited time in specially designated displays near the entrance of the stores.
